no, stealing property is wrong. There is no trinket or bauble that that worth risking your life to steal. Anyone who forces entry into someone else's home is fair game.
The last thing I'm ever going to do if I have an intruder in my house if go hunting for him. Not only do I not want to shoot him, I also don't want to take the chance that I'll instigate a confrontation and then lose it.
When the circumstance happened recently, the first thing I did was "go hunting". And yes, I wanted to shoot anyone I might have found inside my home where my family was at.
I make sure that what I was carrying would give me more than a fighting chance. I knew my wife and daughter were upstairs, so anyone I encountered downstairs was fair game. I was prepared to shoot through walls or doors if I suspected an intruder was on the other side.
I've addressed this several time, but I'll do it again.
If you can easily get out of your house and away from an intruder, you will not be killed or injured. If you confront the intruder, you are risking injury and your own death. Why the hell would you unnecessarily do that??
Also, unless you're a sociopath, killing another human being take a horrible toll on you. No matter how justified or how much the person "deserved" it, killing another human being is a soul-crushing thing to do. Why would you ever want to put yourself in a position where you might be forced to unnecessarily kill somebody??
taking the life of a human being is always hardest the 1st time, it is also something I would never wish upon another person at all. if i could get that part of me back, i would gladly trade lots to do it, but that isnt going to happen either.
If I confront an intruder IN my home I will already be armed. just because I do not have the desire to kill another human being, does not mean i wont to protect my family or myself.
if the criminal is in my home, he is not there to wish me well, and I will feel in fear for my life, or my families lives, I will shoot to protect and defend family.
How am I trashing those who are for gun rights? I own several guns. Why would I be against the right to own them?
What do you think I have guns for? For decoration?
I think i see your point now. I wouldn't be surprised if you are a minority, living in the ghetto in Newark NJ, seeing first hand how a thug can shoot anyone in the face. Or perhaps it makes you feel superior to the other jackasses in Jersey who can't carry a gun because of stupid state laws. All for the wrong reasons. Why should you be superior to me Annie?
You are also for gay marriage. Good for you, amen. I don't care for the topic and hope to our creator our federal government doesnt either. You know how no gay marriage made you feel bad, there are other people on the other side of the coin. I can care less, doesn't bother me. But Annie, the government is not for you, nor those opposing gay marriage, it's for all.
There is nothing whatsoever wrong with defending your home against someone who has broken in or forced entry into your home, period. If you choose to break into someone's home you should automatically assume that you're taking your life into your own hands. In my opinion you've already proven to me that you view your life as less valuable than the items in my home and if you don't value your own life I'm certainly not going to value it either. I would hate to have to kill someone in my home in order to protect my family but I will without a second thought, I'll deal with the grief later while I enjoy another meal with all of my family members still alive.
If you personally want to sit down, make some coffee and have a little heart to heart about what their true intentions might have been that's your choice and I fully support that choice as long as my family members aren't in your house at the time.
Those of you who throw out all of these insane statements about using tasers, baseball bats, hiding and calling 911, hoping they don't find you, etc etc etc have clearly never been through a home invasion. While some burglars have no violent intentions, people do pretty crazy things when cornered and their freedom becomes at risk.
I don't think many people disagree with you.
However, there are cases where the homeowner clearly goes further than needed to defend life and property. Think of the recent case in Minnesota where a man shot two teenagers who were attempting to burglarize his home. Once the would be thieves were wounded, incapacitated, and no longer any threat, he dragged then into his living room and executed them. The man even admitted he went further than he needed to. These are the folks who end up in trouble.
See, we agree on something finally. I'm just doing my part to reduce the population, one intruder at a time.
