If that is what they really want...fine. Have at it. But I dont want to hear one peep of complaining from any liberals in the future on this from whatever may occur. I personally dont think they should be in combat like that, but whatever. You all want to everything to be "equal" and woman to basically the same as men except when it suits you. Have fun.
I certainly hope they dont lower any standards for training and what not though.
Wow. First Obama ends the war in Iraq, then kills Bin Laden, allows gays in the military, and now women in combat!
I think conservatives are going to be signing up for Glenn Beck's utopian compound in droves soon. Let's just hope they drink the grape-flavored kool-aid.
Yes, let's hope that everyone who doesn't agree with your politics commits suicide. Score another one for the self styled champions of tolerance and open mindedness.
Hey. Men could always serve and that didn't keep W, Cheney, Rummy and all the other chicken hawks from running for the hills. Oh ya, they ain't real men.
You're right .... Sasha and Malia can follow the example set by their father.
BTW, check the biography of Sec Donald Rumsfled. Your statement about him running for the hills is incorrect.
No we don't, but you will get them and eventually, like everything else, will become desensitized to seeing it and it will become "the norm". Just another day in Afghanistan or whatever country we are in "nation building" and creating a "democracy".
Our military is undermanned, so I'm not surprised by this. We have guys who sign up for 4 years and another 2-4 are tacked on (that's not an option the soldier has, it's the military's option to extend your time). They do multiple tours. Some have served in Afghanistan for 15 months, go home for a month, only to be ordered to deploy back to Afghanistan indefinitely. The shortage of manpower doesn't allow them enough time to refresh the troops.

We aren't doing stop-loss right now, however multiple and extended trips to the combat zone are now the norm. It is placing an incredible burden on those who keep having to go back or stay, along with their families. One of the things people don't take into account is that groups of soldiers are exempt form combat so that places a greater burden on those who aren't. Currently over 13% of the active Army are female. The writing is on the wall for another reduction in forces, despite the correct assessment of it being undermanned, which means they need 100% eligible for combat.

They will have no other choice but to do it or the screaming that the washout rates for women are too high will be deafening.
I thought there was some pyscological studies done about men and women being killed in stressful war enviroments, and affecting numerous soldiers.
Like a female soldier being killed brutally causing male soldiers to kind break down(similar to seeing children murdered) Or men disobeying orders to not risk the lives of women. I mean I know beyond politics/equality there is a certain degree of our culture that still sticks around of men feeling to protect women.
Eitherway I guess they figured it wasn't a big issue anymore. More people that want to serve, less likely I will be asked.
