With over 8 million active concealed carry licences in the U.S. do you think that you never are around guns? As you navigate your daily life, when you are at the grocery store, when you go to K-mart, while you are waiting to get your haircut, when you are at your kids soccer game, chances are that often you are in close proximity to a handgun. I often think when I look at people, which ones would have a problem with me sitting 4ft from them if they new I was carrying, and which ones would feel safer knowing there is an armed and trained person near them.
My point is this ... this all happens everyday, without incident. We are bound by law to keep it concealed and never pull it out unless an aggravated felony is occuring to us, or those around us.
We have chosen to make personal safety our responsibility.

Sorry Charlie, I do not feel safer with an armed man nearby, quite the opposite. If they are not a uniformed professional, I think they are fearful people, possibly unbalanced.

really? I train and practice with my firearms more than the cops do. why would you feel safer with someone who only shoots 1 time a year vs someone who pactices 30 times or more a year?

So sad for you...

The way I see it is there are 8 million informed people that are willing to make a stand for themselves if needed. Kudo's to them ! I feel much safer around them !

They shoot only once a year or they're tested once a year?

really? neither am I. I just dont rely on cops to protect me. something that the scotus says they dont have to do for you.
I prefer to be armed and have self defense, than to rely on someone who might not even show up after the fact to a crime that happened already.

Do you really think a uniform makes a difference? Obviously you don't know the statistics as they relate to Concealed Carry Licencees. People who legally carry are 13 times less likely to commit a crime than the average American.
If that is really your fear, then I suggest you don't roam about society, because like I said, quite often you are near a gun and you don't even know it.

Most police departments require their officers to qualify once every quarter. While some take pride and practice more than that, others ONLY shoot when qual time comes around.
