For example, the after church Sunday lunch crowd is one of the worst at tipping. Additionally if they cared so much about doing the Lord's work they enable the server to go to church by not dining out on Sunday and making them work.
Oh look. Another conservative who defends a supposedly religious person who went to significant lengths to demonstrate a desire to stiff a low-wage waitress. What a shocker.
oh look another fascist liberal that believes propaganda posted on the internet
fact: the customer (preacher or not) DID tip, and DID TIP MORE than the 18%
look at the pretty picture
the TOTAL INCLUDES the GRATUITY..he/she left ZERO ADDITIONAL tip on the CREDIT CARD...but the twenty DID leave EXTRA CASH on the table
Actually, that is incorrect. The pastor attempted to subtract the charge from her credit card (you did read the articles, right?), but did not take the receipt to a manager to ask for a correction, so her card was indeed charged for the 18%. Therefore, she did not commit fraud, only a common variety of crass cheapness, clumsily justifying it with her religion.
The card was charged for the 18% - that is true, but what I said was that payment of the 18% gratuity is not mandatory. This has been decided by several courts (and if you wish I will find the cases and provide links to the decisions).
The pastor paid by credit card, so it was easy for the restaurant to tack on the gratuity, however the bill could have been settled by cash, and there is no legal way to compel payment above and beyond the advertised cost of the meal, even if the request for a gratuity is published in the menu.
Once again - I think that this pastor acted in poor taste, but the people who say that payment of the gratuity is mandatory are wrong.
This thread has reinforced my belief that these forums are largely populated by angry, unempathetic, narrow minded, willfully ignorant, keyboard commando shut-ins who likely consider the three piece meal at Chik-fil-a to be fine dinning.

thread debunked...fascist liberals shut down
Look at the picture again...
The picture shows that "woman of God" CROSSED OUT THE GRATUITY AMOUNT - AND put ZERO for additional tip. That makes her thoughts on the matter pretty clear. She probably still had to pay that gratuity since it is company policy. She CLAIMS she left some bucks on the table too. Maybe, who knows, but she sure went out of her way to be a real ******* to a low-wage worker who (1) delivered appropriate service, by all accounts, (2) was just implementing mandatory company policy well-known to diners, and (3) depends on wages to make ends meet.
It's the very principle that a "woman of God" would even try to undeservedly screw over a low-wage employee like this that should be shocking. And you can't justly defend that, no matter what you do.
But so many conservatives - at least on this forum - seem to just have a natural tendency to defend behavior that unfairly marginalizes others. Why is that?
