Why not just make everything a federal crime, get rid of all local law enforcement agencies and local police, and start creating the federal police force, and be done with it? Why bother even having local city, county and state laws, just have every state follow federal laws. Better yet, just give 0bama gubernatorial authority over each state, and just be done with it? Think of all the money we could save if we simply eliminated all 50 state legislatures, and just roll everything under federal jurisdiction.

There's issues with the presumption of innocence of the accused...a right we should all have. And, why just women? men get abused too, and are far less likely to come forward about it.

There are many crimes covered by multiple laws. Have you ever heard of title 18? Your argument that [violence/assault] is already illegal therefore we don't need this can't hold water.

That's just silly! Do you even understand why we have federal laws and what they are used for? I seriously doubt it...

Please explain to us why violence against one type of individual is more egregious than another?

Wait, he's not done insulting and belittling, everyone yet, nor is he finished proving his moral and intellectual superiority to everyone yet. Once he has had his fill, and done puffing up his chest to sufficient size, he will enlighten us all.

OP title would be termed 'yelow journalism'.

Simplistic assinine accusation that lacks detail and suffocates meaningful discussion with a nebulous emotion charge.

The legislation is a money distribution scheme in the form of federal grants, among other useless legislation that gives lawyers more opportuinity to file lawsuits and earn a living in these hard times.

Of course without renewing this feel good legislation women would be laid waste and left without any legal protection and it is all the republican's fault.

]wiki brief for more details....

" The Act's 2012 renewal was opposed by conservative Republicans, who objected to extending the Act's protections to same-sex couples and to provisions allowing battered illegal immigrants to claim temporary visas.[5] In April 2012, the Senate voted to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, and the House subsequently passed its own measure (omitting provisions of the Senate bill that would protect gay men, lesbians, American Indians living in reservations, and illegal immigrants who were victims of domestic violence). Reconciliation of the two bills has been stymied by procedural measures, leaving the reauthorization in question.[6]"
