Reasonable request. I remember a doctor being fired because as a male he wasn't supposed to treat a muslim female but did. She just needs to stop the whining and crying and get over it.
My guess is the hospital reasoned that they had the staffing to accommodate his (bigoted) request, and figured that was better for the child than risk Daddy of the Year taking the child away or create a hostile situation. Guys who have swastika tattoos and pronounce their hate tend to intimidate reasonable people.
Rather than put a note in the child's file saying no AA nurses, they should have briefed the nurses on the situation and explained why they thought that was the best course of action. This would have given the nurses the opportunity to possibly suggest other options.
Maybe "daddy" should have found a hospital with no blacks or home birthed his child, if he was so worried about it.
I'm sure if he needed surgery, and the only doc available were black, he would change his tune.
Poor child, going to be raised by that kind of trash.
Idiots deserve more than a simple intolerance. But then, the dad was probably dropped on his head when he was born. He sure acted like that was the case. So, may be some slack could have been allowed.
I'm assuming the hospital was concerned about the safety of the nurses involved. If someone can be so brash as to make such a request (wow, cannot believe there are people like that in this day and age) then I'd be concerned of their reaction if they found their request was not respected.
As in I'd be scared they'd become violent with the nurse or anyone who they felt deserves their wrath.

If the father really had the guts to follow his beliefs he'd have stayed home, allowed only white caregivers into his domain and done a homebirth. Instead he's got to bring his crap out in public and expect the rest of the world to accomodate him.
Its a reasonable request. I am glad it was followed. She should get over it. Would she rather not follow her bosses orders and be fired? It was a simple request. You do what's best for the patient.

Yeah, there's just one problem with your theory.
What's "best for the patient" is to provide the best care possible, not respond to the illogical requests of third parties.
He was the patients father therefore he had say so over the child. It was a very reasonable request he didn't want nonwhites touching the baby.
