Why not indeed

If they did it like FDR did it with the Nat'l Parks CCC program, I'd go for it.
They lived in barracks, did exercise every morning and not only
had a job but developed discipline, self worth and Pride.

Type your zip into Indeed. Bet you there is tons of jobs.
if there are so many jobs, then why are there 4 million unemployed where I'm from?

something doesn't add up

People already HAVE those jobs, so you'd either have to lay off those currently working, or make up work that doesn't exist - like re-cleaning the same floor over & over?? Then you'd have less for each employee to do, which would inevitably lead to hour reductions or layoffs. You're just describing the problem we already face, which is too many workers with not enough jobs to give them. Brilliant.
One could start by deporting a whole load of immigrants.

in that way, there would be a lower supply of workers, so we could have higher rates of employment.

work could easily be found for these people.

this would save on welfare, possibly reduce the tax burden and would help society in general.

why not?

Only if you cut a lot out of welfare and other social programs. Since everyone would be at "work", there should be no reason for people to use those programs... right?

Yes, bring back the prison chain gangs to build and repair roads, like they use to do.

If by "jump through hoops" you mean you actually have to get out and apply, yeah, you have to do that.
the pay should be $50 an hr for that kind of bilge job.

the only entry level jobs is online applications and that's IF they're not lying about hiring because Petco did that before. so stupid! why say you're hiring when you're not?

Ken can easily explain that one.

It's like the tale from 'The Grapes of wrath'

farmer puts up notice saying he needs 2000 workers for $5/hr

so, all the hopefuls come flocking in to his farm, from far and wide.

Yet, of course - he only needs 200 workers.

so lo and behold, he apologises profusely (ie: lies), pretends he's had a bad crop and says he can only pay $1/hr.

Plenty of would be applicants leave whilst the poorest have to take what's on offer.

This is the game that the temp agency is playing.

Temp agencies are putrescent scabs on the bloated filth of humanity's greedy corpse.

Why must you continuously use profanity when you post, we understand without the expletives.
