So I guess someone has been listening to elmur fudd over at the NRA. (Its not guns that shoot people, its magazines, novelloas, Dungeon and Dragon, Porn, . . .er I mean Games)
I shouldn't be surprised. These are the same idiots who believe they can make sound and realistic (and unbiased decisions) without any aspect of critical thinking. We are better randomly selecting senators vs. electing them. . but I degrees
So for the idiots out there. . .
IF VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES ARE SUCH A PROBLEM and infecting our youth - why are our youth the only ones getting sick? The United States?
IF VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES ARE SUCH A PROBLEM than our youth homicide rate wouldn't of fallen with the introduction of violent games (when graphics started improving, homicides started falling)
f'n idiots. If games/media made people crazy, than the US per capita rate would be on par with every other media eating country (Japan, Europe, etc).
The study goes on to say that 58% think there is a link, but less than 40% care to do anything about it. . .bad parenting?
People will always find something to blame other than personal responsibility. Plain and simple. And the media is the easiest target, since it's what we all ingest on a daily basis.

Lets be clear, 58% of people do not BLAME video games (the cause). 58% suggest it is a factor. One of many factors. There are more than a few scientific studies that agree. Even the linked article says that. There are also studies that do not link violence with video games.
So since there are scientific studies that both suggest linkage and others that do not, why is it odd that just over half the population thinks there is SOME connection?

100's of scientific studies have shown a link between violent media exposure and aggression.
And scientists say there are at least three reasons to believe that violent video games might be even more harmful than violent TV programs and films.
Personally I would not want to outlaw violent video games. But I would be for scientists working with video game creators, to decrease chances of violent video games causing (non-honorable) aggressive behavior.
Have a good one,
Chad.
