The Post Office would work if Congress would leave it alone.
The USPS is existing on junk mail.
They didn't evolve as mail evolved and moved to electronic.
Post Offices in Europe did and they are surviving.
The USPS has to make some hard choices here and jobs will be lost but they HAVE to adapt to the current electronic environment or they will go down in a smoldering heap of debt.
It was a single councilman by the name of Gordon Wozniak in Berkeley, CA. Link here. Nothing in the article states whether or not Mr. Wozniak is left-wing or right-wing, though.
Now, the "proposal" can never go anywhere because, according to the article, the Internet Tax Freedom Act would stand in their way.
One person who suggested a tax would help alleviate the problems with spam, that never stated their political affliations, asked the question. This outrage is flipping mental.

The USPS is in deep financial trouble and has been on that track for years under both D and R administrations.
It's a bipartisan financial nightmare with no reform in sight.
