Congress is poised to tell the Postal Service it must continue all Saturday mail services, but the message hasn't been delivered just yet.

The six-day-a-week service mandate, wrapped into a government spending bill on remaining fiscal 2013 spending, is the same one Congress has had for the past 30 years. The House has already passed the provision. The Senate is expected to follow suit as early as Tuesday.

Great example of why we should strive to limit the role of government wherever possible. Everything it touches gets politicized.

Republicans want the post office to fail because they have a union and Republicans hate the working people

Or mail service is outdated for regular letters in most cases. Welcome to the 21st century.

The post office would be in the black if it wasn't for the Republicans hatred of working people

Anyone in congress stupid enough to vote against cutting Saturday delivery really needs to be voted out of office. We're talking about an organization with continued cost overruns that is rapidly becoming irrelevant in the days of email and on-line business. At least cut Saturday service, and perhaps just drop to 3 days a week to get costs under control.

The Postmaster General technically had no authority to make that decision due to the fact that Congressional Oversight proceeds over the USPS. I don't understand why everyone is so shocked. I am not advocating them staying open on Sunday, I am simply saying the guy went above his paygrade.

Republicans in the legislature will allow the USPS to go under and blame it on "Big Government", and the joke is that they themselves are the arm of "Big Government" to blame.
