It is a new tax or the act wouldn't be needed. Additionally, they obviously think it will result in more revenue, as well. So it is new anyway you slice it.

I don't believe that reducing taxes for the richest 1% of citizens and largest, most profitable corporations is guaranteed to hurt America because a Democrat told me so. I believe it because Republicans have proven it to be true beyond any reasonable doubt.

Anyone who condones taxes is either not paying taxes themselves or doesn't have a clue how taxes hurt the economy.
Americans never opt to buy less. The money always gets spent. If people don't want to pay a sales tax on internet purchases then they'll pay it at the brick and mortar stores within their own state. The jobs created will be careers and the ones lost will be minimum wage.

After this goes through the next order of business should be to completely rewrite the tax codes for non-profits, churches, etc. The legalization and taxation of internet gambling should be next on the list. If these things happen then maybe, just maybe, the debt built up under the Bush administration might be cut in half during my lifetime. With out current tax laws there's a zero percent chance of it going away, regardless of who is in office.

Let's review the policy positions of the two parties. In 2010, the Democrats tried to extend unemployment benefits -- something always done, and the Republicans wouldn't agree unless upper-end Bush tax-cuts were also extended. Obama wanted to get the top-end tax cuts expire. Republicans want to privatize Medicare and Social Security -- something that will reduce benefits, mostly to the middle class. The rich don't need Social security. They want to reduce Medicaid for the poor while eliminating estate taxes and lowering capital gains taxes. Those are taxes mostly paid by the top 1%.

The pro-rich agenda of the Republicans is in plain sight of anyone paying attention.

Low paying Walmart jobs were the ones I said would be reduced when smaller businesses start back up again.

Very selective review of the policy decisions. You did well. I commend you.

Now, how about giving us the unbiased version?

For example, do you think that Obama cutting Medicare by $700B won't reduce benefits?
How about Obamacare -- 85% implemented and impact already felt by millions of both insured and uninsured people with costs rising and benefits being restricted. That baby is totally owned by Obama and his party. You don't think that will hit middle class and lower class really hard?

The Senate is scheduled to vote today on a bill that would empower states to collect sales taxes for purchases made over the Internet. The measure is expected to pass because it has already survived three procedural votes. But it faces opposition in the House, where some Republicans regard it as a tax increase. A broad coalition of retailers is lobbying in favor of it.

Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon and Delaware have no state or local sales taxes, though Delaware's two senators support the bill.
