The town is the biggest border crossing between North Korea and China and has been closed to tourist groups, but business travel was still allowed.
The image of women in uniform sparked memories of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi's distinctive band of female bodyguards, who wore sunglasses and headdresses and knee-boots.
Women are believed to represent more than 10 per cent of the entire North Korean People's Army, according to visitors to the state, with many of the artillery units along the coasts manned with women.

I wonder if they are Army standard issued?

Those shoes are ridiculous; if I didn't pity them enough simply for being North Korean, I pity them now for the shoes they have to wear.

Highly doubt those are STD issue or that those are front line soldiers.

Women soldiers are nothing new for NK, but, as far as I know, they are issued the same footwear as tbe men. This is probably Kim Jong Uns idea of a battlefield distraction. Lol, oooooo sexy.

Thank God my old CO never heard of this. He would have jumped at any chance of making all his soldiers the same height.
