Yes, I heard that, too. It was at the suggestion of an 'unnamed' foreign government source. FBI didn't find anything but told that foreign government to let them know if they got any more info. There was never any further response.
This wasn't about Islam. The uncle had it right. These were simply two loser punks. Even the Taliban disavowed them.
There are some people whose brains are so warped, they think they have to kill, maim or otherwise destroy the lives of innocent people. Sometimes they are black ghetto punks, and they convince thmeselves that by belonging to a gang, they are part of something much bigger. Sometimes they are of a non-white-bread ethnicity, and they fancy themselves part of the terrorist Ilsam conspiracy. Sometimes they are WASPy white kids who just want to shoot the whole day down 'cause they don't like Mondays. Whatever the reason, there is nothing that glorifies their actions of confers some noble higher calling. They are punks, plain and simple.
