Watterson’s firing of gay teacher may violate city law

What a disgusting thing for this school to do.
Where is the controversy here? I don't get it.

If they signed a contract regarding the beliefs of the Catholic Church and to uphold them then they don't have a leg to stand on.

A private religious school has just as much rights as a public school.
And usually following the teachings of the religion are stipulated in their contracts.
Except that the city has an anti-discrimination ordinance that covers sexual orientation. She very much has a leg to stand on.

In 29 states it is not illegal to fire a person based on their sexual orientation alone.

This needs to change.

So can I work for the Jewish anti defamation league and belong to the American Nazi Party on the side then and not expect to be fired then?

Their Catholic hypocrites so what do you expect. Appearances has always been more important the facts to these bureaucrats. Just look at the way they fire gay teachers and cover up pedophile priests. Gay and straight pedophile priests.

No. But I imagine you already know that.

A public school can fire a teacher for not leaving their personal life at the front doors of the school. We recently had an example of a teacher that was fired for giving a student a bible. People don't want to understand that our rights go both ways.

That our rights allow for things you might find distasteful but the alternative IMO is even more distasteful. This will be allowed to stand.
She did leave her personal life at the door. A parent showed the obit to the school administrators.

Is the American Nazi Party a sexual orientation, or a religion, or a race, or a gender?

If the ANP had an opening for an office assistant, then the ANP could screen the applicants to choose one to their liking, but if the ANP was shown to discriminate on a consititant basis, then a EEOIC complaint could be filed against them. Political views are not a protected group.
