We have to keep manufacturing threats, to feed and maintain the military-congressional industrial complex.
That's what it's really about.

If it isn't listed, it should be. Have a read:

DU, NATO'S Dark Secret

Quote:
When a depleted uranium shell hits its target it has it explodes on impact burning at extremely high temperatures, vaporizing into an ultra fine aerosol with a large percentage of the particles as small as 1/10th of a micron in size. This is literally as small as viruses. Depleted Uranium spreads out into the atmosphere through the air where it finds its way into water supplies, food supplies and is inhaled by both soldiers and civilians living and moving through the area. Studies have shown that upon inhalation these particles are small enough to pass from the nose, through the olfactory nerves into the brain where it has been shown to accumulate. Depleted Uranium also accumulates in the bones and teeth due to the fact that the body replaces calcium with it.
Governments that use DU always like to portray it as safe by referring to how solid chunks don't emit enough radiation to be harmful from a distance, but this defense fails to account for the fact that these microscopic radioactive particles, once absorbed into tissues are in direct contact with cells throughout the body. Once again remember that these particles retain their radioactive charge for over 4.4 billion years.
One of the hidden tragedies of the Iraq wars has been a marked increase in birth defects, nervous system anomalies and cancer rates. In some areas birth defect rates have been shown to have increase by 15 times their previous rate.
There have been multiple attempts to impose a moratorium on the use of DU over the years, however France, Britain, The U.S., and Israel have consistently blocked such proposals. The next time you hear these governments or the mainstream media of one of these countries talking about chemical, or nuclear weapons that some other country may have or be planning to build, keep that in mind.

The US made terms for this such as the Occupation from 1945-51, The abolition of the Imperial Army and Navy, creation of a new Japanese Constitution, the liquidation of the Zaibatsu and reform of Japan's industry and economy, Japan was forbidden to build any thing nuclear or to build aircraft and missiles. We also demanded permanent basing rights and a don't ask don't tell policy about the basing of American nuclear weapons and control of Japanese territory like Okinawa, Iwo Jima and Northern Marianas and Caroline Islands. Over time most of these restrictions were relaxed, Japan could have "Self defense " Forces, we gave back Iwo Jima and Okinawa, Japan could build aircraft rockets and peaceful nuclear technology like Nuclear reactors, particle accelerators. Japan has large amounts of enriched Uranium and a stunning amount of Plutonium More than enough to hundreds if not thousands of nuclear weapons and can build the rockets to send them across the Pacific or all the way to Moscow. As a Head of State Hirohito lived to the ripe age of 90 and was cremated in 1989 when his first born son Crown Prince Akihito suceeded him. When Akihito passes on his son Crown Prince Hiro. Akihito has named his period of rule Heisei.

Or go back and look at Iran, the liberals wanted the Shah taken out and he was and freedom ended there.

The last thing anyone should gullibly believe is that these countries have anything like a real group pushing for democracy. They are Muslims, they do not believe in freedom of speech, freedom of religion, or any kind of freedom, it's one dictator being replaced by a worse dictator.

You have it wrong, The Shah fled from Iran when his army refused to follow his orders to shoot to kill the Iranians protesting in the streets of Teheran demanding he abdicate or better face Justice for his nearly 30 year reign which saw thousands of Iranians tortured and murdered by his CIA backed Secret Police called SAVAK. He fled to Egypt literally one step ahead of the shoe shine.

No we got our good friend Anwar Sadat to baby sit Shah Reza Pahlavi for a few months until we paid Omar Torrijos our man in Panama to provide him with a nice villa on an island off the coast of Panama. Unfortunately, the Shah had cancer and for humanitarian reasons we let him come to the US for medical treatment. This is when all hell broke loose in Teheran and they demanded we ship him back to Iran to face Justice (i.e. death). When the Carter Administration refused they seized the American Embassy and refused to let our people go in September 1979 until we gave them the Shah and his family.

Lovely, but useless history. The fact of the matter is that the US deposed a dictatorship, and the country was far better off for it - as was asked in the post that I responded to.

Histroy is never usesless and we really need it to understand and explain why millions of people in this world have made it lifes ambition to bring a little of the bloodshed and death from out of the blue to American homes, businesses and streets that we have brought to theirs. Do you even remember what happened in Grozny? Who side we were on?
