The first "gun control" laws in the country, were instituted by Democrats in the Civil War days, to keep guns out of the hands of "uppity n*ggers" who dared to presume equality with whites.
They kept making more such laws after the war, through the Jim Crow days, for the same purpose; plus other laws to keep blacks and other minorities from voting.
How can a background check be done on someone with no ID?
Another dummycrat "war on minorities"!
It's almost like the leftie powers that be don't want minorities to be armed, isn't it?
A very interesting point! "Voter ID" is a "tax" on minorities and the poor, and the elderly, so they must not be required to have an ID to vote. Many of them can not get the ID card, either due to lack of funds or lack of transportation to go get one.
So "they" say.
So, what if one of these poor, elderly, or minority folks want to buy a gun? They have no ID, so there is no way to perform a back ground check, so they can't buy a gun from a licensed dealer.
Of course, they can always go to their friendly neighborhood black marketeer, or find somebody to make a "straw purchase" for them.
But, that is what "THEY" are trying to eliminate with the background check on all gun transfers.
Dang it, between the old rock and the hard place again!
Or, perhaps, it should be "The Law Of Unintended Consequences" strikes again!

Exactly.
One thing is consistent. Lefties are unprincipled people who never see the un intended consequences of their arguments.

It is going to be interesting as it pans out.
The Social Security Admin NOW sends ALL checks through Direct Deposit. Many have said the elderly don't have bank accounts when it was said they need a picture ID to open a bank account. NOW they MUST have a bank account and need a picture ID to open one. This excuse will no longer be able to be used.

It really makes me laugh, background check to buy a gun, want to vote, tell me who you are. I trust you.
