apologies, I thought this was a commonly used word but guess it must be British slang.
but here we have it from an on-line dictionary:
Camp : Origin:
Quote:
1905–10; perhaps dial. camp impetuous, uncouth person (see kemp1 ); hence, slightly objectionable, effeminate, homosexual; in some senses probably special use of camp1 brothel, meeting place of male homosexuals
My neighbour tells me that this kid irritates the hell out of the teachers and other students.
So shouldn't this be a cause for concern?
I think it should.
Kids shouldn't act up in class and teachers should have they power to do what they need to do. If the kid is an annoying brat he is just going to get beat up, but you say the teachers encourage this behavior so I would question why. Maybe he watches wierd tv shows or something. I don't recall any friends of mine acting effeminate, even those that turned out gay.
I thought the liberal ideology of the day was to encourage people 'to be who they are'.
But if this negatively affects others then surely it should be discouraged?
So young boys that act like competitive boys AND attention seeking girls at the same time, is hardly a good thing.
How would I know what the liberal ideology is? I don't believe in discrimination any more than I believe in excessive regulation, but I don't subscribe to any particular ideology.
Anyway, it sounds like the issue is the kid is just acting up. Your neighbor should probably do what any other parent does when he acts up. I don't have kids nor hang around kids so advice on kids is beyond me.
Now, my neigbour has a boy of around 11 who is very camp and will obviously turn out gay.
Will turn out to be gay? He either is or he isn't. He should embrace who he is and not try to pretend he's something he is not.
