first up, this tape is from 2011 and before obama released the long form birth certificate ( note liley references the "51%" poll ). second liley isn't supporting birtherism, as mentioned before she equates it with flat earth believers.
this is actually a pretty good example of how things work in birtherdom. a misleading sensational headline is created then repeated thru the birther blogs till they believe it as fact without ever checking the source.
A good way to describe the way birthers progress ?...no best to say digress ! They ARE a part of a larger group that not only thinks the World is flat, not very old, science is junk, no global climate change, and Women should remain barefoot and pregnant, more guns for everyone, no background checks, the list goes on and on. All this has nothing to do with being conservative in Politics and thinking and more due to the brainwashing carried on by Fox news.
Democrats don't care about legality, they are all immoral.
And yet, in this instance (as in so many others) they are right.
Were you a more reasonable person, that should give pause regarding your conceptions of legality and morality. But cognitive dissonance becomes just so much background noise when you're a conservative.

Some will even take the words of the Hawaiian officials who have verified that the information on the president's birth certificate is accurate, and claim that since they didn't use the words, "an exact match" the officials were actually saying that it wasn't an exact match, thus indirectly confirming the opposite, apparently because they are too scared of the president to say it outright. Thus, these officials are trying desperately to clue in the American public, and only the birthers are astute enough to decipher this coded language.
Yeah, birthers really are that stupid. But always good to laugh at and ridicule.
She says they won't cover the birthers because the question of O's birthplace becomes a political issue (not because there's no merit to it).
Liley: "... we're questioning facts, it's not opinion we are debating. it's what, what are the facts? is the world flat? i mean, is that the next question we're going to debate?"
it seems to me that liley believes there is no merit to climate change deniers, flat-earthers ..... or birthers and the only time NPR would be covering such stories is if there is a political element to the story.
Who said I believe anything. I cut and pasted an article for discussion. Notice the "say what?" in the topic.
I can't believe it is still going and this time perpetuated by a NPR Progressive.
NPR wasn't perpetuating anything, they were basically making fun of birthers. So since you know how to cut an paste, what your opinion on this, do you believe that Obama wasn't born in America?

You are the most ignorant person in this thread, and before you gpo there; I'm not a Republican. For being so smart (self-proclaimed), progressives sure like doing the caveman... a lot!
1. The "evidence" appears on and has been altered by an far-right, extremist website.
2. Yes, the NPR administrative executive acknowledges that, amongst conservative columnists, there, at the time the conversation in question was illegally recorded, was a continuing argument over the facts as to whether the President was born where he and the State of Hawaii say he was born.
3. There is no suggestion of a cover-up, from what I heard.
4. The electorate decided who they believed when, for a second time after having these allegations offered, they elected President Obama.
5. The title of the discussion is a lie - but RWNJs are permitted to do that on C-D, from what I'm observing ... even though the rules here prohibit such distortions.
