Of course, if Obama did do as as Oldhag1 suggested, Obama would be accused of not doing his job by the same usual suspects.

Somehow I think the cost of these trips to pass an economic agenda that adds jobs is worth it. Conservatives didn't mind Bush running around the country trying to pitch Social Security privatization, who held 123 events in 35 states.
Wait a minute, I thought the economy was already recovering due to Obama's policies... why does he need to go out on tour to get businesses to add jobs if his policies work?

Congressional approval rating--15%

The President's approval rating--50%

The country is split on approval/disapproval of the president, pretty much on partisan lines. 85% of the country thinks Congress is doing a lousy job. CONGRESS introduces and passes legislation--not the President. Just exactly WHO isn't doing anything?

Congress Approval Remains in a Slump

I'm done with partisan politics--my entire agenda is rebuilding business in this country that stays local and creates jobs. That means government investment in basic research so that it reduces the risk for industry and lets them build off that with applied research for new product development, making sure we have an educated and skilled workforce, fixing the infrastructure we have and building new to lay a base for business growth, getting rid of pork and closing tax loopholes for businesses that use our infrastructure and get away with paying zero in taxes and then hire off-shore, and giving financial incentives to companies that hire here at home by doing things like lowering the corporate tax rate and giving big financial incentives to companies that hire and create jobs in the US. If the a$$hat Congress is going to sit on their backside and do nothing to get this country moving beyond the initial recovery from the near depression we went through, then I think it's the President's job to get out there and take his case to the American people.

I never thought I'd see the day when Republicans in Congress fight a Democratic president on enacting pro-business policies. It's like "opposite" day in high school, but that's how far the R party has sunk in the last few years.

In a rare candid moment, Republican Senator Pat Toomey summarized his party's agenda quite well. Speaking on the failure to pass background checks he said:

"There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it."

But mind you, it is the Democrats and Obama's fault that nothing can get done in Washington.

And of course, no Democrats voted against background checks, right?

Hint: research prior to making biased claims.
