The question is: is Walmart going broke offering $17.40 /hour jobs? If not then they can pay that wage everywhere.

However, we've repeatedly been unable to get you to recognize that a NATIONAL mimimum wage gets really really messy when you consider that parts of the US have a cost of living over double that of other parts of the USA.

Also, please stop being intentionally obtuse about "nobody asking for $17/hour", there have been many many threads about "living wages" like the thread about the McD's worker getting paid a lot more in Denmark....where the cost of living is vastly higher.

Basically, I see the same people flip-flopping back and forth citing high wages as justification one place and then turning around and crying foul when someone from the other side uses the same bad logic.
What other Wal-Mart store had employees demanding 17 an hour.

I wasn't being obtuse dude.

So you agree, this is a one off place and shouldnt be used as an example, great.

Is this a flipping joke?

So how many other stores, and locations, in North Dakota and the country, have this shortage in workers (and increase in demand) that are paying workers more?

Where else in the country are they sitting on 7.4 billion barrels of oil?

Is it reproducible in any other state or county in America?
Real jobs pay realer money.

Never mind.

The big question still remains; what happens when the oilfields go bust. And that's gonna happen sooner rather than later.

I'm betting all my chips that Walmart closes this store immediately.

Oh, so to increase wages you propose not legislation like the evil Democrats do...

...but to get rid of all the excess people demanding jobs.

There's compassionate conservatism for you

Actually it's a good case study of increasing the bottom wage and it's effect on the community.

I can see why you want to dismiss this though because it shows that higher end wages result in higher prices all over.

Williston ND has the highest rent in all of the US.
And it's a small town of 14K no less.

Average rent is $2394 for a 1 bedroom apartment.

Maybe they all need to start advocating for "Affordable Housing" soon !

There is no Dem amnesty bill. But i guess if you want to play ignorant, you have a right to do that.
