"Rape culture" should be purged from the lexicon. It's a lame attempt at trying to incite more of a response than is actually warranted. Every time I read or hear it, it's clear that something breathtakingly stupid is about to follow.

All it does is turn people off to what would otherwise be issues that warrant attention.

I think we have a winner for the Rape culture in action in this thread award.

P.S. it doesn't matter if you sing about or Jesus while wearing a thong or a burka, it is always a problem when you aren't treated with respect by your fans or casual observers.

*Yes Jay-Z lyrics are completely misogynist and offensive. I wrote him off and songs I liked once I heard the unedited versions.
what Jay Z lyrics are we talking about, and lets try to limit this to something he releases in the last 10 years (2003-2013)

Disagree. Until there is a common language about the issues, the issues will keep getting swept under the rug. Got a better phrase for this? Feminism is off the table. Sexism is off the table. Misogyny is off the table. And this has a different scope than those.

The mistreatment of women and their bodies in the broader society doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Hey, those fans are paying her wages, so if they want to grab her butt because she is acting like a ho, then so be it.

If she wants respect she should cover herself, and change her lyrics.

I had to write him off somewhere around the "Can I get a "****" you" era. N**** in Paris didn't help matters either. Nor did 99 problems.

Well to be honest, considering the number of songs he has out there in his catalog, I think he is an underachiever. The number I enjoyed is very very small. He's definitely not my favorite rapper, and it didn't really take much for me to write him off. There are plenty of other terrible rappers I have written off over the years due to classless and tactless lyrics.

just the law of acting with decency and integrity, this does not apply to singers that act like street hustlers.

None of these songs you listed reflect the whole "rape culture" argument you made.

And Jay Z is the better rapper to ever live. Regardless of you feeling a different way, calling him terrible is an insult to the genre.
