I saw this article/other coverage about this and I was totally shocked.

Beyonce's Butt Slapped At Singer's Copenhagen Show

Beyonce handled it very differently than I would have. I would have kicked him out, to make sure no one else gets any ideas that that sort of behavior is condoned or appropriate and would go unpunished.

I am not sure what I find more appalling, the fact this guy thought it was appropriate to reach out and touch her butt. Or the comments on the coverage that say she deserved it because she was wearing a skimpy outfit.

And there you have:
1. victim blaming
2. people claiming rights/ownership to someone else's body because of how they are dressed
3. condoning of the behavior by the public at large (one article I saw had comments like, whoohoo great idea, I should have tried that too or other insulting comments about meeting her at the afterparty for some private time)
4. The never-ending refrain of "boys will be boys"

Disappointing to say the least.

Inappropriate?

Yes.

Taking it as far and as insulting as you are?

Ridiculous.

Rape culture?

Isn't it a bit ironic that this woman married a man who is part of the biggest money making promoter of the rape culture on the planet?

Good point... Here's some Jay Z lyrics:

Quote:
You know I - thug em, **** em, love em, leave em
Cause I don't ****in need em
Take em out the hood, keep em lookin good
But I don't ****in feed em
First time they fuss I'm breezin
Talkin bout, "What's the reasons?"
I'm a pimp in every sense of the word, *****
Better trust than believe em
In the cut where I keep em
til I need a nut, til I need to beat the guts
Then it's, beep beep and I'm pickin em up
Let em play with the dick in the truck
Many chicks wanna put ***** fist in cuffs
Divorce him and split his bucks
Just because you got good head, I'ma break bread
so you can be livin it up? **** I..
parts with nothin, y'all be frontin
Me give my heart to a woman?
Not for nothin, never happen
I'll be forever mackin
Heart cold as assassins, I got no passion
I got no patience
And I hate waitin..
Hoe get yo' ass in

Rape culture started way before hip hop. It is well ingrained in American society.

*Yes Jay-Z lyrics are completely misogynist and offensive. I wrote him off and songs I liked once I heard the unedited versions.

Here is another example:
Danny Brown's Triple Rock show sparks unseemly oral sex controversy - Minneapolis - Music - Gimme Noise

Same problem. Different angle. Although the victim isn't admitting it. It was still assault though.

The problem is we condone this behavior. I bet this rapper can't say anything other than he enjoyed it, or he will lose his "street cred."

A couple points:

I don't think you'll find many people that would admit that grabbing/slapping someone without their permission is appropriate. Anonymous posts under an article aren't exactly a high-water-mark for reasonable arguments, I've seen racist comments under "cute puppy videos" on YouTube.

Secondly, slapping one's behind =/= rape.

Thirdly, you don't want the same standards to apply to female on male touching, do you? Why or why not?

Lol, I read that article, and his response to a fan on Twitter about receiving particular favors was that he "didn't miss one note".
