The reality is rape results in pregnancy in about 5% of rapes which is about the same as regular sex results in pregnancy.

I think you Democrats should focus on some of the stupidity in your own party, and there is plenty of it.

I'm Pro Choice but at what point do you consider no longer calling it a fetus?

Should you allow abortion at 8.5 months ? By then that's a full grown infant.

Pghquest (post 69) – You are attempting to change the subject just to see if you can. The discussion is about limiting any and all women’s right to control their own bodies as they, not a government of MEN, choose. I support the right of an individual to control their own bodies. If you cannot do that you are effectively chattel and the property of the people limiting your choices.

In General - I support the right for this congress critter, or any other, to make as many dumbass statements as they want no matter how many votes it costs the Republican Party.
And I support them in continuing their D/A statements, maybe the GOP will say goodnight in 2016 when the dems tuck them in again.

If it is out of the embryonic stage, then it is a fetus until it is born.

Trent Franks: ‘Incidence of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low’

Trent Franks:

A House Republican pushing for a 20-week nationwide ban on abortions said Wednesday that the incidence of pregnancies resulting from rape is “very low” — then scrambled to clarify his comment after it went viral with comparisons to former GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin.

“The incidence of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low,” said Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) as the House Judiciary Committee debated his bill to ban abortions nationwide after 20 weeks including in cases of rape and incest.
It is rather pathetic because the whole thing about the conservative's desire to ban all abortions is very ugly and not really a defensible position.

So conservatives create this narrative in which, well pregnancy from rape just doesn't happen, then imply that if we left that loophole open, that women would lie and say they were raped just to get in an abortion.

This is how conservatives see other people. These kinds of perverse thoughts about other human beings are what guide many of their policy positions.

conservatives hate millions and millions of their fellow citizens. The proof of this hatred is there for anyone who pays attention.

Either the "idiot fringe" are the only Republicans who actually vote......or the average Republican is just fine with those sentiments.....and just won't admit it outside of the voting booth.

The point is that the GOP doesn't come out as a united party against this kind of thing. They shrug it off, or maybe one or two Reps or Senators make a statement denouncing the statement.
