I'm not a libertarian nor do I have an affiliation. But I noticed a lot of criticism directed towards libertarians (usually from Democrats/statists, of course). Usually when someone talks about liberty and personal freedom, they're heavily debated and criticized.
What do people (mainly liberals) really have against libertarians or anyone who isn't a Democrat or Republican?
Because there is more than just the individual----there is an us. Because not everyone is equally strong or powerful, and we need to respect the rights of everyone, not just the strong and strident.
says the person who is against abortion rights for women
you are no friend of liberty
You are not free to kill, what kind of a moron doesn't know that. We believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but not at others expense.

The 'us' refers to Americans. That does not entail dictating to other countries how to live, what to trade, and whom to grant assylum.
Sure, Dems and Repubs will take anybody in that wants to hand over their liberty to them for safekeeping. Libertarians want you to make decisions for yourself, choices are good.
A perfect illustration of why the Libertarian Party will always get less than 1% of the vote. And some of you wonder why no one wants to join your little club...

Most libertarians/Libertarians are pro-privacy and do not think the state should be telling women they cannot have abortions. If you truly are a libertarian, you are in the minority with this position.
Because their viewpoint is incredibly unrealistic. It's something a great many have a juvenile tryst with, but then they usually come to their senses. I say juvenile, because to support such a philosophy in modern society is to deny how much more complex society is today than 300 years ago.
Unless you're really rich, then libertarianism makes perfect sense.
This is pretty accurate. I was a quasi-libertarian when I was 16—and in boarding school. At that age and in those circumstances the privatization of everything seemed perfectly reasonable.
Do you even know what unrest looks like? We live in a very stable country.
This country is far from well......
The banks are almost done with us. This country is a used and busted condom.
