Because then when these lazy over-fed fatties get health problems from all their over-eating, we have to pay for those too. Soon some liberal is going to come up with free bariatric surgeries for all the food stamp recipients.

I'm for making anyone on food stamps walk two miles to get their food stamps. Those obesity related conditions are killing us taxpayers.

The government is just removing the stigma of being poor.
Even the poor can now keep up with the Joneses.

I think in order for you to receive government assistance, you should have to volunteer in the community. Nothing should be free

I mentioned it earlier but Illinois used to pay for gastric bypass for those on Medicaid and when it was cut (one smart thing the politicians here did)boy did people complain. The welfare system here needs to be cut because no, I don't want to pay for this or many other things like braces (used to be provided) or unlimited dental (while many working people couldn't afford it)or many other things.

In the area we live ebt can be used at local restaurants that have take and bake and they have been doing it for years.

The one example given is Papa Murphys but Casey's and other convenience stores take ebt for frozen, unprepared foods.

Personally I think it is disgusting however, it is no worse than taking cash and giving your cousin your ebt card so she can go and get whatever she needs. That is taking food away from your children just to go and buy generic cigarettes or beer.

I don't see what the problem is. If they only have $X to spend every month, why is it so important where they spend it? There is plenty of crappy, unhealthy food in grocery stores too...

I suppose the rules may have changed, but I was always under the impression that only unprepared food was eligible for food stamps. In fact I have a sneaking suspicion that these fast food restuarnats taking EBT are only accepting the TANF portion.

Yep, looks that way. Fast food isn't eligible for food stamp usage.
