You might consider that the CIA is an intelligence agency that deals in SECRETS. There's a technique to keeping SECRETS. It's called preventing the secrets from leaking. The CIA investigation in Benghazi is an ongoing one, presumably dealing with sensitive information. And as Benghazi is being used politically, the CIA would understandably be very interested in keeping the information of a highly politicized investigation contained.

There are repercussions when a political party takes an event and turns it into a political landmine. Some of the repercussions are unanticipated. Like how the determination of whether to close down an embassy gets taken out of an ambassador's hands and ends up in the hands of an administration that doesn't want to add fuel to the fire. So as a government, we end up overcautious, disrupt our embassy operations, and rack up the costs of maintaining those embassies and missions.

CIA personnel have always been subject to investigation by the CIA. And CIA personnel have always been charged with keeping the CIA's secrets just that, secrets. The ominous spin put on this is partisanship, pure and simple, and unreasonable as well.

On 8/1, CNN reported:

" Some" CIA Operatives said they have been subject to polygraph tests....

According to " sources" the goal is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress...

The sensational headline" Threats to Their Family" was added by the Independent Journal Review to cause outrage.

I am surprise CNN is digging in this
and I am very interested in what else is going to come up
Hillary Clinton might not be so cocky to run for president
if this story comes out
she was so hateful; and nasty in the hearings
I regret EVER supporting her in 08
this might be the undoing of mr Obama
we shall see

Now that sounds more accurate, but doesn't sound as sexy as cons would like.

All you needed to do was look up the CNN article yourself and read it.

Exclusive: Dozens of CIA operatives on the ground during Benghazi attack – The Lead with Jake Tapper - CNN.com Blogs
In exclusive communications obtained by CNN, one insider writes, "You don't jeopardize yourself, you jeopardize your family as well."

I don't mind them not talking to the press, but Congress is different. Congress deals with sensitive subjects through various means and this could be done this way. Yes, this has become very politicized. The Obama administration has certainly had a role in making it so, by putting up barriers to the investigation, not being truthful etc. I'm sure it would have gone differently if they had met with leaders of Congress at the beginning and explained that there were sensitive issues of national security that needed to be handled differently. When they act as they did, the cover-up becomes the story to Congress and eventually the press.

Because the loss of a job can hurt a family's well-being. I think the one insider was being overly dramatic, but I'm certainly no stranger to overblown rhetoric.

Congress is different.

And partisan Congressmen are not Congress. Partisan Congressmen have created a mess. They have created an economic mess. A political quagmire. A diplomatic nightmare. Partisan Congressmen who use CIA secrets for political gamesmanship are just as bad as the press. The CIA has every reason to want to stop leaks to partisan Congressmen. And that's what the article was talking about. NOT about Congressional hearings where precautions are taken to protect sensitive information.
