Starting next year allows health insurers to charge smokers buying individual policies up to 50 percent higher premiums. A 60-year-old could wind up paying nearly $5,100 on top of premiums. They are punishing smokers because it's not all about the smoker, second hand smoke.

Living unhealthy lifestyles has become the new Scarlet Letter. That’s what happens with centralized health care. But once we go down that road, it won’t end there. Smokers today, the obese tomorrow.

Notice we never hear experts wanting to “punish” the promiscuous for the cost burden they inflict on the health care system. Yet people who sleep around, like smokers and the obese, cost the rest of us plenty–what with promiscuity leading to sexually transmitted diseases, some cancers, HIV, unwanted pregnancies, mental health issues, etc. Why isn’t what is good for the goose also good for the gander?

You can not prove one is promiscous. The adjuster is not going to enter yor home and count the notches on your headboard.

If they repeatedly get STDs the Insurer will know.

Insurers have been charging higher premiums to smokers for at least the last 20 years. What does Obamacare have to do with it?

Obamacare Punishes Smokers: Why not the Promiscuous?

Smokers don't.

How about duel Presidents from now on:

You voted for Obama: must follow his policies
You voted for Romney: must follow his policies

Those that voted other or not at all can do whatever they want.

Aren't smokers "punished" already under the current system too? Gee, I wonder why insurers would charge more to those that have higher risks?? Maybe you could start an insurance business that charges a set fee for everyone...I'm sure you'd make lots of dough.

Yeah, isn't that capitalism? Whatever happened to personal responsibility??? Don't like your insurance premium? Find another policy or quit smoking!
