Violent crime has been falling steadily for years. We are safer than we have ever been, which is why it's curious that our right-wing specimens are increasingly paranoid and convinced they are under greater threat.

I don't know, I disagree with the entire premise of "hate crimes," in which the court tries to dig inside the mind of someone and search for intent or what you were thinking at the time. I also disagree with the notion that you should be further punished for what motivated you or the class of person you killed.
Um, the court digging into the mind of someone to search for INTENT and what someone was THINKING at the time of the crime is essentially the cornerstone of our criminal justice system!
