Nah, we don't really desire unions down here, most people I know balk at the idea of having to pay to work for a particular company. I personally prefer being paid to work.

Most in the south would be happy to have Ford or any other brand making cars down here, but we want the unions to stay at the state line.

They build Cadillacs and Chryslers in Detroit right now. Not in the suburbs...in the city.

Got any reports on the poor quality of those cars?

You'll take any damn jobs down there that you can get...union or not.

And if those jobs are in union shops, you'll join the damn union if necessary.

You know it and so do i.

Being on the right wing is not racial but I guess folks who think Blacks can only being far left socialists would think that.

So the meme that Detroit was brought low because of auto companies is false? Hmm then what caused its decline? I'll wait.

I say this only to highlight the absurdity of your statement.

Well, I don't know if Detroit is a hot bed for liberals, Democrats certainly, but maybe not for liberals. Again, the decline of Detroit is something that is difficult for me to completely wrap my mind around because I have done some reading on the topic and there are so many things that have been going on in Detroit and the surrounding area. Certainly the Democratic party that ran Detroit deserves some level of blame, and there was a certain level of corruption that hurt the city.

Although I do think a lot of Detroit Democrats DO care deeply about the city of Detroit.

The black unemployment rate has been high for a very, very, very long time. This is an on going problem of systematic racism against black people seeking employment. Liberals have not been bold in fighting that discrimination, although what resting and fighting that is taking place on a political level is without a doubt coming from Democrats.

I live in a suburb outside of Chicago, I grew up here. When I was a teenager, I remember there would be 800-1000 murders a year in Chicago. In the 1990's, there were an average of over 800 murders a year in Chicago.

The last 3 years the average is like 450 I think. Murders have declined dramatically in Chicago from where they were in the late 1980's and 1990's when I was a teen/young adult. And that decline is in part based on the efforts of a lot of Democrats that live in the city of Chicago.

But noting the short comings of liberals, doesnt change the reality that conservatives could give a damn about black Americans in general and black Detroiters.

I didn't cry racism. And I have not engaged in an argument in this thread. I was giving a reality based assessment of why conservatives cheer the decline of Detroit on reason is because they could give a damn about a city full of black Americans. There is no doubt that this is true.

Their clear pattern is to target cities\states that either:

a) are democratic strongholds (partisan attack)

and\or

b) have exhibited horrible fiscal practices that have sank them in huge unfunded pension liabilities, run off jobs etc. (at least in their opinions, accuracy may vary)

Basically, I've seen such attacks on Detroit, California, Chicago, Illinois, specific bankrupt cities in CA (and more) and you sat back until they pointed out Detroit and you suddenly determined it's because the city has black people in it.

I mean seriously, you have a major US city that has ran into the ground and you are dismissing criticism of it as racially motivated?
