I have been racking my brain, and I can't think of another. I mean, outside the realm of the entertainment industry. yet time and time again, it's teachers that are the most vocal about being underpaid, whatever that really means. underpaid compared to what I often wonder. so can anyone think of a profession more overpaid than teaching?
Really? Well you spend four years in college getting your teaching degree and go spend some time in an inner city public school and get back to us on you being over paid.

Bankers and stock brokers are the most overpaid. A beginning stock broker, nothing but essentially a ticket runner, starts on the average of $66, 500 a year pre bonuses. Their wages are only a fraction of their total salary; commissions and a yearly bonus for the same beginner can make his total salary well over $250,000 a year for a bottom of the totem pole job. And that's on the first year.
In comparison, a beginning teacher makes 1/10th of that. Re-rack your brain.
In Texas the starting salary is $27K/year and many districts add their own to bump it up to $30/$32.
Is that too high ?
I guess a move to $15/hour min wage would give those teachers an option to move to better paying jobs.
where I live, they START, fresh out of college at just under $50,000 a year for a PART TIME JOB. yes, teaching is a part time job. if you broke it down by the hour, they are making between $35-$40 an hour. again, what job starts at this salary right out of college with zero experience?

What is it with 20 years in? Starting salaries are similar here in PA but a teacher with 20+ years in is making $70K at least in my area. then you have the $20K medical benefits and the $10K in pension benefits they all collect. That bumps that $30K starting salary to $50K and the $70K salary to $100K.
That said a good teacher is priceless but unfortunately many of them are blue light specials <that will go over 20somethings heads>.
Let's see, is $51,000 a year for 27 years experience and 3 Master's degrees your definition of being overpaid? If so, sure, teachers are overpaid. Maybe you ought to get your teaching certification so you can be disgustingly rich too.
You do realize that most teachers (at least in states without teacher's unions) end up working about 16 hours per day and frequently have to spend their OWN money on supplies? Then they're faced with 120 unruly children who thanks to the spineless districts and uncaring parents can get away with anything. Even prison guards have it easier than teachers do! At least they can hit back.

Uh...I know several teachers, and that isn't true at all.
A second job during the summer making even more money doesn't count.
