The President has repeatedly held his ground and had major progress in the last few months.

Mr. Obama stood down the GOP on Syria. Held his line with al-Assad and got him to admit he had chemical weapons and accept UN intervention.

Battled GOP on Iran, kept Israel in check and from going rouge, now Iran wants talks.

North Korea is not even making a peep...doesnt want the Horns.

GOP comes away from shut-down without one consession...one change to ACA.

The President just kicked major butt and took names.

Uh... Obama got his butt kick on Syria by the Russians... al-Assad and the Russians got the chemical weapons deal to make Obama look bad...

Iran elected a new leader which had nothing to do with Obama...

The US didn't do a thing to North Korea, they made a lot of noise like in the past...

I will admit that Obama won with the budget/debt limit, he won BIG on that...

Um, NO.
Russia ONLY made the proposal AFTER Obama made noises about military action.
THEN the Russians said that they would NOT make the chemical-weapons-disarmament "enforceable" - only to suddenly AGREE to that VERY THING.

The US got what it wanted.
Did the Russians help?
Of course they did - but only because they knew that otherwise the US would take military action - and only AFTER Obama started making noises to that affect.

The whole 'process' has been disgusting. All of their pretend hubris is embarrassing. They create a mess, and then tell us how hard they have worked 'on behalf of the American people' to resolve the mess which they created.

Now we have two new dates: January 15, 2014 for the Budget/Sequester, and February 7, 2014 for the Debt Ceiling to be raised...again.

Yes, Obama 'won', but wasn't it pre-ordained? He gave the Republicans an 'out' last time by allowing certain tax changes to go through. Those changes increased our spending, and more quickly brought us to the debt ceiling. This time the Republicans were held to those changes, and thus it came down to them selling it to their constituency, rather than having to convince the Democrats of anything. It was very clever, and left the Democrats in a position where they didn't have to do anything, which they didn't. Dredging up ACA was just silly, but that probably reflects the split in the Republican Party.

On to the elections, and the Republicans praying that the American people have short memories (they don't) when it comes to the presidential elections in 2016. Can you say President Clinton....

That's funny I hadn't heard that in a while. It will be interesting to see if the Republicans keep repeating themselves or decide to work with the President.

Why can't you give the whole country credit?
btw,
You also forgot the capture and killing of high profile terrorist while going through a Government Shutdown.

Really? You think Obama is winning right now? The polls for him have consistently been going down. And once the government is reopened and news focuses more on the Obamacare debacle, it's just going to get worse. Obamacare is the one thing that Obama has truly owned during his presidency, and it's turning out to be a disaster. Even Daily Kos printed an article with a liberal upset about his premiums doubling.

He might have been better off with a default to blame on Republicans than reopening the government and people starting to focus on Obamacare.

the problem you have though is that obama made noises for a long time, and waffled before making the decision to do a limited military strike, which wouldnt have amounted to much of anything.

I will give credit to everyone that works hard from here on out to make real cuts and bring our fiscal house to some semblance of order.
