Yes and probable cause according to law can't be "because that person is black"... Common sense to everyone not a white supremacist...
actually in todays society, with identity theft running rampant , it doesnt matter the race/color/creed/gender any purchaces like that are questionable
I have fraud protection on my cards....I (myself) made a purchase at best-buy for $500...the credit card company texted me (the agreement I have with the company) to VERIFY if the purchase was by me, or it was fraud
the fact is any big purchases are questionable in todays age
$2,500 for a handbag. Is that the scam? Anyone that would pay that for a handbag is not very bright and I don't care how much money they have. Dumb-de-dumb, dumb.
Just because you wouldn't spend the money doesn't mean others wouldn't. Quality has a price and not a Walmart price.

What child? The article says that she is a nursing student, not that she is pregnant.
In the country that you escaped from the government does not protect people's rights but in America it is unconstitutional to arrest someone just because you "think" they have might have done something wrong. You need probable cause. The 4th amendment protects people from tyranny.

I totally understand the complaintants filing suit and I also read the article....

Police said there were 53 grand larceny complaints for credit card fraud at the Madison Ave. store and more than 47 arrests. A racial breakdown of the suspects wasn’t immediately available.
Apparantly, the store is a target for people that know how to get around the normal checks.
Eventually we will learn if they've done anything similar to young people of different ethnicities and that will be key in determining the merits of the suits.
why would anyone waste their hard earned money on a 2500 dollar hand bag....thats 2 months rent
the nursing student should have just picked up a $20 knock off
Are you a communist ? People have the right to spend their hard earned money the way they please. Some people have money not everyone is working class, don't you know that ?

Even if the store had been targeted for use of fake id and Ccards...Barneys has a company policy which triggers the phone call to the police.
It indeed will be interesting to see what the policy is and what the trigger is and whom is the reciepient of these triggered calls.

You are correct.
I just see a lot of very young people making poor financial decisions.
Buying items like that at that stage of life and income is taking the first steps towards financial slavery.
We ALL know people like that, many dig themselves into that whole when they are young and dumb.
