It's a valid argument, nearly every home where I live is going to have at least one gun in it. Hearing gunshots occasionally is not something out the norm nor is it a reason for concern. The population is probably 100% white with variable incomes.

I'll tell you a funny story that can illustrate the differences between where I live and elsewhere. My one Brother was at my other Brother's house target practicing. Two Hispanics arrived to deliver some furniture, they get out of the truck and my Brother out back behind the house starts shooting. They are running for cover.... LOL. I can't necessarily blame them but to someone that lives here gun shots are no reason for alarm.

Umm NO ... groups of people that are DIFFERENT tend to not get along together as well as places where everyone is alike. It is too complicated for those that believe guns alone are the problem.

The most dangerous states in the United States report has been calculated after the FBI’s latest statewide statistics offered information about all 50 states, according to Yahoo! News on Thursday.

The 24/7 Wall St. reviewed the states with the highest violent crime rates – such as murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults. In general, the data shows that violent crime in the United States rose about 1 percent last year, after the rate had declined the 20 years before that.

I wonder how those stats overlap alcohol sales in states and local county/parish areas?

Care to back that up? I stated a fact, which you failed, miserably, to refute, because it doesn't fit YOUR ideology. Bearing in mind, of course, that you have zero clue what NV is like, I could cut you some slack, but your arrogance makes that difficult. NV is a vast state, mostly BLM, as another poster said. Vegas is the big metroplex, and, yes, it's a cesspool.

However, a whole state being categorized as "violent" because of ONE city is not a "fact", regardless of ones ideology. Northern NV, which most of us classify as everything north of Beatty, is hardly rampant with violence and mayhem. Reno/Sparks is the biggest urban area, and compared to Chicago, or any CA metro area, is as quiet as a church mouse.

Vegas has CA style gun regulations and is a quagmire of leftist ideology. How do you suppose Harry Reid gets elected? He doesn't even make personal appearances in the North when he campaigns. Outside of Reno/Sparks and Carson City, the North is all ranching, farming and mining. Very rural. The bulk of violent crime in the state happens in Vegas, and we Notherners are happy to let what happens in Vegas, stay in Vegas. There is a huge schism twixt north and south here. CA transplants, and their idiotic, liberal ideas, has polluted Vegas beyond repair, and we up here would be quite happy to cede possession of it to CA, without any fuss.

Most of the "violent"because deaths that happen in Vegas are actually suicides as well. Idiot, non residents, whi lost their shirt trying to buck the tiger, and don't have the stones to explain their stupidity to their families, as their assets pass to some casino. It's more natural selection than violent crime. Your post, I am relpyiing to here, is about as ignorant a statement as I have seen in a spell. If you want to pop off with such moronic nonsense, you should at least have something besides your own opinion to back it up. Your user name suggests you are not even a US resident, let alone residing in my state, so your quip just reeks of bigotry and arrogance. But, any more, it seems that it is not a requirement to know what one is talking about to have an opinion and to delude oneself into thinking that opinion is fact.

LOL! I can see that happening here as well. Hunting is like a religion here and at this time of year you'll hear plenty of gun shots. Actually, all year you hear them as practice doesn't stop when hunting season does and there are plenty of crop damage permits given out with all the corn and soybean fields. Way too many deer over here. We are also right on the Atlantic flyway and goose hunting is big here, as waterfowl hunting has been a long tradition over in these parts. Opening day of duck season sounds like WWIII is starting if you live anywhere near the water.

Funny, as this side of MD is really safe and seeing people with guns (rifles & shotguns) is common place. I remember meeting a buddy out back at a walmart a few years ago and unloading our guns and gear from one vehicle while getting in another to go goose hunting. It didn't seem to phase anyone driving down the road as no SWAT team was called. Of course the central part of this state, especially Baltimore which has very strict gun laws seems to be what gives us a bad rep on the most dangerous states list.

You are gravely misinformed here. While this articles does not focus strictly on perpetrators, it does discuss the scope of the problem. It is truly massive.http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/23/us...ewanted=2&_r=0

I found this interesting: "In the report, it is said that the relationship between low income, low education and high crime rates appears to be well-documented. The states listed as having the most crime support this theory. Eight of the 10 states with the highest rates of violent crime have lower rates of adult citizens with bachelor’s degrees. Additionally, more than half of the 10 states with the highest rates of violent crime have median income levels below the national average." And yet we have so many extreme conservatives who advocate for businesses being able to pay employees the very lowest amount of money they can, fighting against minimum wage and labor laws, and also saying that the individual applying for the job actually has negotiation power, when clearly there is a connection between violent crime and low income, low education.
