I can't fault them..those programs are there for the taking.
But they want more of course.

True but wanting more and working to earn it is different than demanding someone give it to them.

They expanded SNAP to accept single people and that goes above FPL as well.

Much is being done for the poor but it's not to get them out of poverty.
Yes. It's to KEEP them there, and voting for guess who...

Apparently that's not enough because our Economy is still not where it needs to be and there's still tons of homeless and people in need.

I don't care to get into a D vs. R shouting match. IMO your insane if you follow any of the party lines these days when it comes to leadership.

I definitely agree with you on the bold. Which is my major issue. And the root of the current problem that we have.

Some of those in power feel that they must keep a section of the population poor in order to maintain their standard of living.

Some on here are arguing that income inequality is no issue, then complain about the programs designed to benefit the poor. They also do not care about its affect on the business community.

I don't feel some posters have actually thought the issue through.

This needs to change and some people do not see this as a problem . This right here is why republicans should never have a majority of any every again if they do they will own 60% to 70% of the wealth and US will be a third world country
This is rich, Obama has been president for five years and Reid has been senate leader for seven years, and you blame the republicans???

I agree, so why did we reelect the same guy for president whose policies are creating record high levels of poverty in the USA, while at the same time, is pumping $85 billion a month into the pockets of the rich Wall Street and K Street fat cats????

The liberal democrats assuage their guilt over the massive increase in the poor and desperate, by pointing to Food Stamps and Welfare. They do not care if their policies create more poor, because in their eyes, that is what social welfare safety nets are for. Safety nets mean liberals care about the poor, so they think this lets them off the hook, even if they are responsible for this mess.

Let them eat cake.

If America ever becomes a third-world country, it sure won't be because of conservatives, libertarians, or real Republicans.

Agreed. The dems and the repubs in power in Washington are essentially the same political party, the Washington Establishment party. They fuss and fight in public, and get their partisan digs in, but in the end, all elections might do is swap out the people heading up the committees or change the side of the isle for the person banging the speakers gavel.

This is why both parties hate the Tea Party movement, because they don't like being told to be accountable, or to reduce government spending and stop the waste, or to stop their abuse of power. To the dems and repub establishment, money is power, and they know that one day their side of the isle will be in control, and then they will control all that money and power.
