There is nothing in the constitution that prevents someone who is a socialist, marxist, or communist to office.

She has been elected to city council in Seattle, not emperor of the northwest.

I live in Seattle's suburbs and most folks are politically Independents who lean a little left. But the city of Seattle itself has become hard left. Seattle's growth and prosperity arose in a time where the city had bi-partisan leadership, and Democrats were the pro-business, "Clinton" types. But lately the city's leadership has gone far left. I fear for that place. Many companies are moving across the city limits to the suburbs for a reason.

And on behalf of Indian-Americans everywhere I'd like to apologize for this woman. Most of us are pro-capitalist and pro-hard work. We are the most educated and highest-income minorities in this country, so this woman does not reflect our values.

Don't be vague, where in the constitution does it say a socialist, marxist, or communist can't hold a public office. I will gladly wait for your detailed answer pointing to exactly where it says that in the constitution.

Why apologies for someone having the freedom to believe what she feels is right? Companies are moving to the suburbs because Seattle and it's metro is growing rapidly and will continue to do so.

The voters spoke. Seems like Seattle is going further to the left.
Maybe they want to outshine San Francisco with their policies.

No matter what though..it was the peoples vote that put her into office.
This is what they want.

No but I think there's a fair chance she will be able to bring the $15 minimum wage to Seattle. The new mayor (Seattle's first gay white mayor) has declared his support for it. It's going to be an interesting lab experiment for the UW econ department.

Yes, it will. When they realize that raising the minimum wage is going to do nothing for them. Prices too high already? Raise that minimum wage, sit back, and watch those prices skyrocket. And the min wage people will be exactly where they are today.
