Unless you've been on the ground in a foreign country going door to door by force sweeping for weapons you can't honestly answer this question.

It would be sheer folly for another country to invade America,a hypothetical scenario i cant see ever happening but i dont think the fact that many citizens having guns would be a detering factor but more the military power that could be brought to bear on such an invasion.

They wouldn't need to use anthrax or sarin to kill thousands of armed civilians. Nazi Germany killed thousands if not millions of partisans in Yugoslavia and in the occupied territories of the Soviet Union. The Germans, for example, completely leveled and destroyed Warsaw in retaliation for the Warsaw Uprising; over 200K civilians were murdered and over 20K partisans were killed. I think people really overestimate the damage that civilians with guns can do to a well trained military. They usually cite that fake quote from Yamamoto about how America can't be occupied because of the rifle behind the grass. I don't really care about the whole gun debate but I do get irritated in how certain proponents of gun ownership think that a poorly armed and poorly trained group of civilians can win or put up a successful resistance against a well trained military (and a military is well trained if it can occupy a massive country like the USA).

You forget that just inland a little ways... Are states that ARE armed. California, really, is the only totally insane one in the west. OR and WA have very liberal laws, Alaska is armed better than the military, and the next states east of the coastal states are armed like they intend to win the next world war.

Eastern seaboard? Eh, who cares? If we lost them things could only get better...

So little you know ... that's actually true.

All a foreign enemy would have to do would be to target the manufacturers of oxygen and mobility scooters, the Tea Party wouldn't have a chance. The plus side would we would probably have a balanced budget in a year or two.

Default Do guns in America make it difficult for a foreign army to invade the US?

What foreign power could possibly cross the oceans to mount an invasion in the first place, let alone face a heavily armed populace? The US Navy is more powerful than the combined fleets of the rest of the world.

Even in the hottest moments of the Cold War, it was always set up that we'd go over there to fight, they'd never be able to come here.

This might be the best response to this question. If any country planned on invading the US, their plan would also include killing as many people as possible in the first wave to prevent any serious return attack. But to occupy the entire country would be a near impossible task due to the size of the country. We have already shown who hard it is for the US to occupy Iraq and Afghanistan which are both much smaller than the US.

I believe in gun rights as much as the next man, but the idea that our gun owners can stop an army that defeated THE US MILITARY is Beyond ridiculous. Any force that got pass our super carriers, nuclear submarines, the entire pacific fleet, all the marines in Pendleton and 29 palms, the Airforce bases in Colorado, the the army divisions in Texas and Georgia, the marines in camp leguene and cherry point, the army In fort drum, will have no problem trampling joe blow with his few rifles and 1000 rounds of ammunition.

Now where we could be more than a nuisance to this alien space bats invasion force is if our smarty pants citizens created IEDs as seen in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It prevented the Japanese Armed forces from invading the West Coast.

It also made the Mexico Government not side with Germany in World War 1 via the Zimmerman Telegraph.

Also a great shot of a Mossberg 930 Shotgun.
LOL!... you're so cute when you say things like this, wish I had a camera.

No, you lunatics, foreign nations don't invade us because we have the largest, most lethal military on the face of the earth. No one in Russian, Iran, or China gives a **** about some redneck with a rifle.
