Ryan Loskarn, the chief of staff for Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) was arrested Wednesday afternoon based on probable cause of possessing and distributing child pornography. Loskarn joined Alexander's office in 2011 after serving as a staff director for the Senate Republican Conference.

On Wednesday morning, agents from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service raided Loskarn's home because of "allegations involving child pornography." A few hours later, they arrested Loskarn who was led from his Washington, D.C. home by agents into a waiting black SUV. Almost immediately after the arrest, Alexander fired Loskarn (or "removed him from the payroll" in his office's almost quaint terminology) and replaced him with longtime aide David Cleary. Prior to Loskarn's arrest on Wednesday morning, Alexander, in a previous press release, said he was putting his chief of staff on unpaid adminstrative leave due to the investigation, which the Tennessee Republican said left him "stunned, surprised and disappointed."
Put him away for awhile. Let figure out some things and get himself straightened out. Do not let him return anywhere near political leadership.
I always wonder about cases like this. I have been reading The Bureau by Ronald Kessler, which is a history of the FBI. He recounts a story about a guy named William Anderson a rep (D, KY) who had denounced Hoover on the floor of the House. Hoover had agents investigate him. They took a photo of him around to prostitutes in Nashville to see if any recognized him. On madam thought that he had been a customer. Hoover sent the allegation to Nixon aide HR Haldeman, and then to the press. In 1972, Anderson lost his election.
