I can't imagine a more uniformed "commentary" than the one that started this thread.
1) DePalma has a significant film making history of various types of movies and he is hardly a political activist.
Right, so maybe he should keep out of making politically-charged movies especially those that would upset members of the military.
2) A documentary style is a format of movie telling that has been done on occasion for decades. It's not meant to fool anyone, it's meant to be a format of telling a story in a less glossy hollywood way.
Ok. Thanks.
3) I think I saw one promo for this film - that means it wasn't in a lot of theaters. Does your (unposted) link from Drudge or __insert rightwing site here___ mention how many screens it was on? Probably not as many as the big holiday movies.....
Good point. Not sure how many theatres picked it up but don't you think if this documentary was any good, it would be picked up?
4) you can look up Hollywood's long list of movies that fit the "mold" you seem to prefer.
Like the great movies that Samuel Goldwyn created? You know, the ones that didn't throw our military under a bus.
And aside from that, the OP is the usual type, demonstrating a lack of basic history and reality in general.
Your opinion.
In any case, it seems that some can't handle a story that requires the thought process of someone older than a child. Maybe G.I Joe is on TV.
So because one disagrees with your assessment, then they are a child and/or have a childish thought process? Who's being the baby? What makes this movie so "thought-provoking" anyway? Have you seen it?
What we can't handle is any more garbage coming out from Hollywood where you have self-absorbed egotists making millions while wiping their feet over those that serve this country selflessly and who will not see one dime of the money that this and other movies will earn. It's terrific how Hollywood "supports the troops", ain't it??
Maybe DePalma should go back to making gangster movies.
