Pole dancing is usually found in buildings of disrepute on the bad side of town near the railroad tracks where some men go to find "entertainment".

Now, some strippers think that they should be allowed to become Olympic athletes.

Wrestling has been a major human sport for 5,000 years, and part of the modern Olympic Games since 1896.

Do we really want to supplant the honorable sport of wrestling with a "discipline" that originated in strip clubs?

Futhermore, women can already participate in all Olympic sports that men can, but men cannot participate in the female only "sports" of Synchronized Swimming and Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Will male strip... Harrier means "athletes" - be allowed to be Olympic pole dancers, or will this be another sport restricted to females?

Where is the spirit of gender equality?

You mean gymnastics? There's some pole dancing involved in that.

I would like to see pole-dancing as a sport; not involving sexual innuendo but as an actual sport requiring lots of skill and strength, and treated as such. Ready for the Olympics? Eh, I don't know.

No, Harrier means pole dancing, which is usually practiced by strippers.

As for gymnasts being involved in pole dancing, please elaborate.

I meant this, which I would much rather see than dancing around a pole:

Although I do think pole dancing should be considered a sport, but made far less sexual.

The pommel horse is like a horizontal pole and it's limited to men. Pole dancing would address that inequality.

[the Polish would be proud!]

If subjective sports like water ballet and dressage are Olympic events then so should pole dancing

No way. Pole dancing is not a sport, it is cheap entertainment and debauchery. Expect global outrage if such a "sport" were approved.

If serious rules, policy, uniforms, and communities sprang up behind the idea that pole dancing should be an actual sport then I see why not.

Ready for the Olympics, I think not. It needs at least several years as a legitimate sport to even be considered for eligibility.
