The image isn't the garden. If you look at the article it shows the image comes from the organic garden page on wikipedia, so its not the garden of the Florida couple.
Yep, just read that. That's funny they would use an image like that in a story about a garden in Miami Shores....lol.
Wow. That sucks! Though I do have to say, in that picture, that looks awfully mountainous in the background to be Florida. I realize that there is a portion of the state that is a bit hilly, but that looks more like the Appalachian foothills that we see here in southeast Ohio to a degree, and even more so in PA.
The image caption of the Prisonplanet link says "Image: Organic Garden (Wikimedia Commons)." It's just a generic public domain picture of a garden.
Check the link to the original OffTheGridNews.com article for a picture of the actual garden in question. That picture is copyrighted either to the photographer or to OffTheGridNews, so Prison Planet had to find some other picture legal for them to use.
Miami Shores is a suburb of Miami. They are free to establish zoning laws as they see fit. It's likely a majority of the people who live there, support the ban on no front lawn gardens. Some may view it as an eyesore that hurts their property values.
So it's a completely different picture, from a completely different state? Gee, I wonder why that is?
Maybe because the real picture would show that the couple is living in a densely-populated environment, with neighbours close-by, who are bitterly complaining about the stench of manure permeating the air, making them unable to open the windows or enjoy being outdoors?
Hmmm?
Well gee; their community in Miami shores "voted" to make front yard gardens verboten! So how is this related to "government entities" running amock when it's apparently a majority of their own neighbours who enacted these rules?
Well, here's the picture from the original source:
Ahh!

Actually I just checked it out, and their is a sub-species that has a range from northern Vermont, to southern Florida, and as far west as Michigan.

The OP cleared that up... but thanks to you too.

I mean, with the exception of the panhandle, I've been all through Florida. There is a stretch on the Florida Turnpike near Orlando and south which is orange country which is a bit on the hilly side, and somewhat resembles the hilly areas of Amish Country in Ohio, but that background was too mountainous. At any rate, that wasn't the couple's picture, and the OP posted the correct one. I'm a bit of a geography nerd, so I had to comment on the landscape.

Well, where I lived in the Cleveland area, I was in a suburb 20 minutes or so from downtown, and 20 minutes or so from BFE!!! Best of both worlds IMO! But I digress. The smell of cows*** was much better, than some of the aromas permeating from that of a major city!
