Has it been made illegal in the state of Utah to perform a private marriage ceremony for two people, of either gender?
Very good point.

The government should get entirely out of the marriage business.

That would end this entire controversy.

How about a hunting license?

If they so no to those, then it is hypocritical for them to claim that a marriage license is a right.

Oh well - they already believe that people should have a license to kill (See Roe v Wade).
there is already blatant discrimination in who can hunt and fish and when and where.

as most of the country's population is flatlanders its not something that is part of the national conscience, but if you live out here by reservations its a great point of contention and effects lives on both sides of the argument far more than the lives of offenders who claim to be effected by rulings on the definition of marriage

in the end the "discrimination" is justified. native american tribes should be granted special privilege to uphold their subsistence traditions. its a special tradition that needs to be preserved just the same as institution of marriage needs to be protected.

Harrier relies on common sense - not biased studies.

Children need a mother and father in order to develop normally.

Sadly, single parenthood abounds due to divorce, however, it should never be allowed for children to be willfully denied a mother and a father from the start, or to place an orphan in a same sex household, both of which are sub-optimal situations and borderline child abuse.

Harrier participated in a skit about this very topic(in Spanish no less).

The gay army is attacking the fundamental building block of our society - the family.

When you demolish the foundation - the walls come tumbling down - just as did the walls of Jericho.

Why do you support the destruction of our society?

You didn't know that this abusive travesty is taking place?
I know a gay couple that has adopted a child. The "mother" figure that they have "denied" the child of having hit him and repeatedly burned him with cigarettes. She finally lost custody when his father beat him so badly that he ended up in intensive care. He spent the next few years in foster homes because he was emotionally damaged from his experience and nobody would adopt him, or even keep him for long. The same sex couple took him into a secure, loving, healthy home, and he is thriving.

That's a travesty?

To me, that's an amazing act of parenting.

But not for this: "Nor is there a fundamental right to have straight marriage recognized or endorsed by the people"?
You also got a rep.

You also touched on an important point - you illustrated perfectly why the government should get entirely out of the marriage business.

Do you agree?

A non-same sex couple would have been glad to take him in.

An organization in which Harrier is active would have given him a home (PM Harrier and he will tell you about it).

There is no reason why he had to go with a gay couple.

I do not agree. I like many of the legal rights created and conferred by civil marriage contracts, and I would not like to see them go away.

I'm sorry they raised such a bigot. Raising bigots is bad parenting.
