I know a gay couple that has adopted a child. The "mother" figure that they have "denied" the child of having hit him and repeatedly burned him with cigarettes. She finally lost custody when his father beat him so badly that he ended up in intensive care. He spent the next few years in foster homes because he was emotionally damaged from his experience and nobody would adopt him, or even keep him for long. The same sex couple took him into a secure, loving, healthy home, and he is thriving.
That's a travesty?
What luck for that child that he is being raised by two loving and nurturing parents after the awful life he had being raised by his heterosexual biological parents.
Hopefully more children like him will have the same opportunity.

But since it's not getting out, you want to force gay people to either have a straight marriage or no marriage at all, thereby denying gay couples the legal rights that such a civil contract confers while allowing straight couple access to civil marriage and those legal rights.
If you truly believed what you said, you wouldn't be fighting against gay civil marriage, you'd be railing against straight civil marriage.
Lesbians who have children through sperm donors and then raise those children are deliberately denying children the right to have a father.
The same is true with homosexuals who adopt children - if two men adopt a child - they are willfully denying a child of the right to have a mother figure in their lives.
You didn't know that this abusive travesty is taking place?
So, lots of children miss the right to have a straight father around every day, due to so many divorces. Being born doesn't come with the guarantee you'll have both a male father and a female mother in the house most every day until you're 18.
There is no evidence of such an ongoing process anywhere. The Netherlands legalized same-sex marriage over twelve years ago, and shows no such signs of degradation. Massachusetts legalized same-sex marriage in 2003, ten years ago. Society did not and is not imploding. Life has gone on as usual.

Biological evolution, yes. Luckily, social evolution occurs over much shorter time frames than geological time.

Well, sure, that all sounds all fine and dandy but who is going to issue those nice little documents called marriage licenses if not for the government?
I was listening to NPR a little while, and so far, the first attempt to suspend legal same sex marriage in Utah has failed.
I have no doubt the bigots are rallying for the next attempt, but for now, there are so many same sex couples applying for marriage licenses, they are having a hard time keeping up with the demand.
