i always get annoyed when people say i watch somebody use there ebt card to buy this and that.

mind your own business and get off your imaginary pedestal you put yourself in, and shrink that long nose you are looking down on people on.

one day you will be in that same reverse situation.

We work and instead of being able to keep the money we worked for we had to pay taxes to pay for the money on that EBT card so yes it is our business. Work and pay your own way and it will be your businesses. And you would think that you would put the people who pay for the food you put in your mouth on a pedestal.

They were too busy living for today and failed to think they would be old one day.

But that is just many of the broke older people I know.
Many times even their kids have given up trying to help.

Or something completely unforeseen, such as a horrible health issue, and were unable to get health insurance, or were highly underinsured? and the housing crisis took the equity in their home? or the actual home itself? Never traveled more than 100 miles from their home, spent a ton of money helping to or actually taking care of ungrateful kids through college? why would you assume, drugs, alcohol or pissing away their money? Can't imagine how those are the only older people you know!

But would they die? Or would Necessity force them to work and find a way? We as a society owe it to those who are unable to provide for themselves all the help we can give them. Do we owe it to the abled bodied though?
We have an entire life time to save, to plan for our futures. Too many planned on Social Security which was never meant to be a sole income. I myself have never planned for that, nor did I put all my faith in the company 401 k. My brother teases me because I make good money right at 80g a year and yet I drive a vehicle for 8 to 10 years. Well the money I don't waste on car payments and buying a new car every 3 years goes into my nest egg.
Long story short I don't depend on others to see to my needs and I never will. Those who do are destined for disappointment.

Perhaps we should all spend less time judging one another and instead finding ways to improve our lives and working together to make this country (and world) a better place. It's so easy to walk around casting judgement, I do it, we all do it. It's like breathing to us. It's much harder to look past the superficial labels we give people and see people how they really are, it's the mark of a truly strong person to be able to set aside preconceived notions and still work side by side with someone society labels "undesirable."

Don't worry about it, we all know it isn't true. The way most supermarkets are set up, you can't see a blasted thing about the type of card anyone is using EVER, that is just smoke they like to blow up peoples patooties.

While people I know were getting bigger houses asking us why we didn't buy a bigger place or drove a car for a long time. Now they are worried and saying they will die working while we retired young. I've never asked my parents for help but have in laws that always took from my parent in laws. The takers are no better off, might be losing their house and the parents can no longer help and are worried about making it themselves.

So their lives choices led to catastrophe. Old people and gambling..... Go visit a casino at 10 in the morning 3 in the afternoon. It isn't working america packing the place. Stand in line at the convenience store that sells lottery tickets. It isn't the young people buying $40.00 worth of lottery tickets at a clip. While standing in line complaining that social security doesn't pay the bills.

I have no heart ache with the elderly. Most are responsible people who prepared for tomorrow, but far too many didn't.
The health Issue. We all face that risk. Young and old alike. If you don't have health insurance you are gambling. That too is a life choice.
Kids and college. Well if they destroyed their future for a kid to go to college they own that.
Ungrateful kids. Once again, who created that problem. There is a word in the english vocabulary. The word is NO.

Actually yes you can. I don't purposely look but did notice a girl in front of me using an EBT card at the grocery store. She looked perfectly healthy and capable of working to me. The poor little older lady scanning her items. She was working but had to serve the lazy young girl getting free food.

Yes, many would actually die, the old, sick, handicapped, mentally challenged, children would be hungry, unable to learn from the pain of it all. It is already a pretty sad state of affairs for a great many people, even with some help. Do you want to be part of a society that cares nothing about the truly needy in your ever hungry quest to keep a few losers from getting anything from you? Do you let the crackheads toddler scream from hunger because his mother needed to buy another pipeful, or do you help that toddler? Do you do nothing about locating and forcing absent fathers to pay for their many offspring, or just let those offspring live in their car?

Good for you on being hard working and responsible, most of us,are. Some cannot be, some choose not to be and in amongst those that choose to be losers, are the innocent victims of their bad choices. We can help them, or help the mega corporations keep getting a tax break to offshore their previous American job. What do you choose?
