Read where it says you shouldn't tax that which is necessary to survive.

Its sometimes hard to be polite to people here when they don't bother to read the entire quote....and then manage to get it so very very wrong in their reply.
You are just trying to push socialism.

Class warfare-type arguments appeal to the lowest common denominator — envy. It suggests a sense of entitlement to that which one did not earn.

Although Obama’s rhetoric focuses on “millionaires and billionaires,” his policies have done more harm to small business owners and members of the upper middle class than to the ultra-rich. At least during both the Clinton and Bush years, the rich prospered… but so did middle- and working-class homeowners, business owners, professionals and skilled laborers.

Sadly, the political appeal of class warfare is working. Ignite the class envy of the masses and they will forget how Obama’s tax policies actually most penalize the professionals who voted him into office in 2008. Capitalize on divisive rhetoric and years of failed policies are swept under the rug. But class warfare is just that — rhetoric.

Sorry but no. Clinton and Bush both were bad. I'd love to say "yay Clinton IN YOUR FACE Republicans!" But no.

To get to a president that helped everyone I think you'd have to go back to before 1970.....

Seriously this is a foolish argument.

Its right up there with:

Hey since YOU dont think we should pay for the government we have collectively agreed upon (but which you dont agree with) why dont you leave?

Its just as rational (and wrong)
How is that a foolish argument? If you believe what you are saying, at least put the money where your mouth is. There is no law preventing you from paying more than required by the law.

They never do put their money where their mouth is. It's just rhetoric and hyperbole.

Fine, then move out of the country since you seem unwilling to pay the bills and participate. Seriously thats a foolish argument. Im not going to waste time on it after this post.

As a FYI-Im in the top quintile for income, so by suggesting a higher tax rate *I* am putting my money on it. YOUR suggestion is that *I* should pay money that others who (like me) are fortunate enough to be making good money in our country while they do not is foolish. This argument works a lot better on those who are poor I think, but hey maybe you think it sounds good.

And one person paying an extra 10K or so wont make much of a difference. All of us who are fortunate enough to make the kind of money I make (or more) need to pay in to make a difference.
