I've learned from some informative links and on occasion have shifted my perspective because of what someone on here said - not often but it has happened.
I have changed my mind lately about nanny statism. It was not so much because of a posting, but a conversation with a friend who disagrees on many issues. The change came about rather gradually as I bumped up against this concept time and time again.
With no foreseeable damper on the welfare state in the near future, I believe that we will have to have a strong nanny state to go with it. Especially in the area of health care, since the CDC says that up to 75% of health care costs are due to behavior (smoking, drinking, etc).
I have let's say . . . broadened my perspective after reading some thought-provoking, well written posts.
For instance, I can kind of see what gun owners are a wee bit paranoid about losing their guns. Such as . . if they give an inch, will the government take a mile?
My eyes have also been opened a bit to the issue of police brutality and the militarization of our police ~ something I hadn't given much thought to.
So.........thoughts? Anyone else have their mind changed about an issue in this section?
Not by this section, no...but I have changed my views on some issues over the years.
