Can't make this stuff up...

The case is still ongoing and the officers are currently on paid leave while the situation is sorted out.

64-year-old Pearl Pearson, a deaf man, was left with bloody eyes after Oklahoma Highway Patrol officers repeatedly punched him in the face.

It all started when police pulled Pearson over for fleeing the scene of a traffic accident.

Pearson claims that as soon as he rolled down his window, a cop punched him directly in the face. According to a website set up for Pearson, “Pearl pulled over and rolled down his window, expecting an officer to ask for [his] identification. An officer struck him in the face before Pearl had the chance to do anything. As you can see, he was struck multiple times.”

From his website :

Quote:
Pearl’s own son is a police officer, as was his son-in-law, who is now a deputy sheriff. He respects law enforcement and knows how to respond when pulled over.

Does fleeing an accident (before due process determines such) cause one to be punched in the face?

It doesn't sound as if the guy was fleeing and running from the trooper.
He pulled over.

Anger issues abound when a badge is worn. Violence is the game they play.

Pearson who obviously could not hear what the officers were saying to him was attempting to show his identification but said he was hit in the face instead. He was arrested and later charged for resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident. The affidavit did not state whether or not the officers knew that Pearson could not hear their orders. However, it does state that a physical altercation ensued for about seven minutes.

Even though Pearson had a placard which reads, “Driver is deaf” on his driver’s door an interpreter was never provided for him. Reportedly Pearson repeatedly requested an interpreter but he never received one, not during his arrest or time in jail.

what do you expect? you pay cops peanuts to risk their lives, and it's a shock when you're left with brutal, terrible cops.

Yawn! another "I hate the police" thread. How many is does this make, 3,700?

In all honesty, what is your gripe with the police? Did you have bad experience with 1 cop and you now hate ALL of them?
