Humana’s bailout request and the shape of things to come | Power Line

Humana is going to ask for a bailout under the ACA - $250 to $450 million - for one year. That's one insurance company for one year under the ACA. Too many older folks with health issues, not enough younger ones - so the already expensive plans - with their high deductibles and out of pocket maximums - were priced too low.

From the original article:

http://www.aei.org/article/health/ob...llion-in-2014/

"Now we have some hard numbers. Humana announced that it expects to tap the three risk adjustment mechanisms in Obamacare for between $250 and $450 million in 2014. This amounts to about 25 percent of the insurer’s expected exchange revenue. This money is needed to offset losses that the insurer will take as a result of slower enrollment in its Obamacare plans, and a skewed risk pool that weighs more heavily toward older and less healthy members than it originally budgeted."

Obamacare is a house of cards, and they have already started to pull cards to relieve stresses here and there.

It's only Feb and already they are needing a bailout ?

I thought we'd at least go until June or July before we saw any requests.
Oh this is going to be an expensive year for HHS.

I don't know where hubby read this, but he was telling me last night, very few who signed up for Obamacare on line have even made their first payment.

HHS gave them a 90 day window to pay though.
And they can't be turned down for care during that 90 day window.

Sign up, get your care done, don't pay.

That's where part of the bailout comes into play.
HHS promised to bail out the insurers.
The doctors/hospitals though are SOL because they don't get any bailout.

The other part of the bailout was in case not enough healthy people signed up.
Healthy people will pay and not use the services.

Instead we got all the old and/or sick with no limits whatsoever to their treatment/care.
These people can be paying $100/month and getting millions upon millions of dollars in treatment per year.

There was a financial reason why insurers put limits/caps/high premiums on people.
They aren't a charity operation here.
But Obamacare changed them into one with the promise to bail them out financially.

And what is even worse is that none of the Dems want to touch this now.
It needs some fixing and they are running the other way.

But it can not be "fixed" it needs to be totally scrapped.

This is what happens when you get stupid people (Obama chief among them) to write laws about a segment of business they have zero experience in.

Obama is stupid, a moron, a low IQ idiot along the lines of Al Sharpton and to think some would trust their care to him?

The bill was written by the insurance industry and they gave themselves an out.

The last piece of the FIRE economy that we haven't blown up yet.

lol.

Dems are mostly criminals whose only knowledge of finance is how to steal other people's money.

$250M for ONE company? Hey what a bargain this Obamacare is.
