IMHO "no". Like I've said in the past; Putin doesn't have lots of young dudes to just throw away since Russia's pop is dropping like Japan, China and many other places in 2014.

Here is what our feeble President should do. Restore the missile defense system in Poland and throughout Europe. Pass the Keystone Pipeline and gear up our energy production like never before. Export oil and gas to Europe and get the U.S. energy independent. That will lower world oil prices which will hurt the Russian economy.

Sure. Spend billions on new rocket systems and get rid of our strategic oil reserves.

Poland is in NATO. So Russia would have to be ready for WW3.

So would NATO. That's the point. "NATO" is not some magic incantation that will ward off evil Russia. NATO has to have the collective will to fight a real war. I'm not sure it does at this point.

There is already a 1994 treaty obligation to protect Ukraine, but no one is coming forward to support it.

There is no way in hell NATO would allow Russia to reach Germany boarder. Russia invading Poland would end up worse than their attempt at invading Afghanistan anyways.

We will not go to war over Ukraine. We must over Poland.
Do you believe the Russians will really push that far?
I don't think that anyone here have such wild imagination.

There were 2 times we occupied Poland:
1) In 18th century and later - three strong Empires tore up a weak one. The morals: if you are an Empire, be a strong one or else...

What Empire was better wasn't obvious. Habsburgs once let Ukrainian peasants to slaughter hundreds of Polish lords, while our government wasn't ready to allow such things, because our peasants might have got second thoughts.

2) After the WWII. There was an easy way to prevent it: to open the Second Frontier in 1942 in Warsaw. More coffins in the USA, less coffins here.

I think that the peninsula in question doesn't cost war and economic sanctions. I've never been there. Even as a tourist.

But nobody asked me.

And the EU is a good place. But nobody invites us.

I think once Putin has gone and relations improve Russia may form much stronger relations with the EU, saying that there is already close co-operation in areas such as the European Space Agency and there is now a good deal of trade between the EU and Russia. Whilst Moscow is a booming economic city with vast development going on.

Everybody would like to see better relations with Russia, and we certainly don't have anything against the Russian people.

Thanks. I don't mind, but the leaders may have different views.
