I voted no, Ukraine is just like Russia in almost every respect, because Stalin killed off all the real Ukrainians long ago. Ukraine had plenty of time to rebuild on the western democratic model, but choose the Russian gangster model instead. They suck, and I feel the same way about Belarus, should they ever get invaded by Russia. Other Eastern European countries are showing imporvement, and have less to work with than Ukraine, which has plenty of natural resources, rich farmland and little excuse for being in the shape they are in today. They need honest leaders, real economic reform and freedom of the press, but won't do it because they left their brains back in the gulag, they sniff commie glue and get high on the waterfront with big brother.
Overwhelmingly the denizens of City Data do not believe that the U.S. should go to war with Russia over Putin's provocative actions in Crimea. Let's hope the PTB are listening.
Regardless of what we should do, we can't. We are completely unprepared to deal with this incident. We have no assets in place. War is about "The firstest with the mostest" and we are years late and have nothing. Our "strategic planners" are living in a dream world. Now, if we had some A-10s positioned to give the Ukraine Army some close air support...
As much as I criticize Obama, I stand behind him here and applaud him for not getting involved. It's not our business. We're running roughshod across the Middle East taking over oil producing countries in a natural resources arms race, why wouldn't they snatch a country back if they can? Especially one that has a large population of people who actually want to be Russian. They're absolutely going to get away with it & it's a big one too as it puts Russia back into Europe. Still, the Conservative position should be non intervention. My .02

What if it's Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, The Czech Republic, or Hungary?
