This is something that worries me, especially given the widespread belief among Mexicans that the US Southwest belong to them. Remember that 1997 speech in Chicago by then Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo where he said "I proudly affirm that the Mexican nation extends beyond it's territorial boundaries"?
Hell, using this logic the Russians in Brighton Beach could cry foul and Putin would then invade Brooklyn

Yes, instead of always worrying about the other side of the world, they should be looking at what is happening to our own country. American kids are being savagely attacked in schools for displaying the American flag.
New Mexico isn't that good of an example, California with it's far more generous government handouts is a better one.
Putin has played his hand perfectly. May be the game all along was to get crimea. He probably will get it without a single shot being fired.
Who?
Snipers began shooting into the crowd on February 22 in Maidan or Independence Square. Panic ensued and riot police retreated in panic according to eyewitnesses. The opposition leader Vitali Klitschko withdrew from the deal, no reason given. Yanukovich fled Kiev.[3]
So the whole world should be probably try to find out about the sniping. Where is the satellite footage? Who is securing the evidence and looking at the ballistics? Who are the credible witnesses?
So Yanukovich feld after he gave the order? Is that plausible? Were these Putin's snipers?
Which would mean the first violator of the Memorandum on Security Assurances are the neocons?
The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the CSCE Final Act, to refrain from economic coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by Ukraine of the rights inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind.
How could we have ever guessed their overt and public polices?
And the call has Paet passing on an unverified rumor from an unnamed doctor that the snipers might have been hired by the opposition. You got nothin'.
Right, the tape isn't any sort of smoking gun, since all it does is a brief mention of Paet saying they heard from "Olga"(whoever that is) that the same snipers might have been firing at both police and protesters and a rumor that the snipers might have been part of the opposition. There's nothing about US involvement in the call at all. It's basically a hacked phone conversation that mentions a rumor going around.
As far as what really happened, none of us can truly know at this point. Honestly, I wouldn't put it past either side to engage in this sort of thing, Eastern European/Russian politics are a messy deal...
Of course Putin wanted Crimea from the beginning - they also want the rest of the Ukraine, but are willing to start with just Crimea. Obama said that Russia won't be allowed to take the Crimea unless Kiev agrees ..... which they won't.
Of course, it's extra-delicious for the Putin knob-polishing brigade that it's out of Estonia, because Russia really did not like the fact that Estonia left, after all they had done for them. Well, OK - to them.
